Industrialist Samuel W. Traylor, originally an east Texas native, moved the site of his company, Traylor Engineering and Manufacturing (known for the production of shotcrete), to Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1905. Several years later, Traylor set out on an endeavor to create a grandeur modernized hotel to accommodate oversea guests and visiting dignitaries.

On September 1, 1917, with the expertise of architects Ruhe & Lange, the Traylor Hotel made it’s debut opening at the corner of Fifteenth and Hamilton Street.

In the late 1920’s an additional wing was built in expansion of the Traylor Hotel’s east side.

The Allentown, Pennsylvania landmark has housed many celebrities including:

President William Howard Taft, Babe Ruth, Roy Rogers, John Philip Sousa, Joan Crawford, and William Boyd (also known as Hopalong Cassidy).
